A series of black granite sculptures with concave forms allow for contemplative reflection.

Lost Landmarks - scale of object

Crafted from reclaimed steel these pillars symbolise the landmarks and building that have been lost

Living Memory - personal scale

The curved connected walkway provides the space for quiet reflection and individual remembrance.The names of those who were lost will be engraved in perforated steel, allowing light to gently filter into the commemorative space

EARTHQUAKE MEMORIAL COMPETITION

Christchurch, New Zealand

The proposal provides large gathering spaces and terraces that enable a platform for collective remembrance, while enclosed and finely curated interior spaces provide for a more intimate scale of memorial.

Sculptural forms and landscape architecture reform the language of the river's edge while creating connective opportunities across the spine of the Avon.

The narrative of the memorial is expressed through Four scales of Remembrance:
