RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPE PLAN
Kachna-Raipur, Chattisgarh, India
Grain Collective was brought into develop the landscape plan for a new residential development in Kachna-Raipur. We employed a landscape narrative to the communal spaces through the design of a low-land forest, urban forest, hills and plateaus. Reflective water ponds, splash fountains and water-walls, as well as storing and purifying water onsite; the narrative of water is the driving force which ties the others together. It enriches the overall design and facilitates various sensory experiences.
Developing the overall form and design we worked closely with the architects: Architecture Paradigm and developed a more fluid form to the landscape - juxtaposing the landscape with the rigid building forms. A further refinement was added through active and passive programming to the communal spaces.
The planting scheme was the most important aspect to the overall layout. We strove to look for a complexity in texture and seasonal variation within a simple design.
The proposal is in the design development phase.
